Seventh Grade

High school is getting closer every day. Make sure you work hard, and don’t forget to have fun! You have a lot to look forward to! Use the following timeline to find out what you should be doing while you are in seventh grade.

Seventh Grade Timeline

  • Tell everyone you know that you want to go to college! Your parents, teachers, counselors, coaches and more are there to help you make it happen.
  • Do your best to get good grades (be organized, manage your time, pay attention in class, take good notes, read your textbooks, study).
  • Work hard in your classes, especially in academic subjects like math, English and science.
  • Ask lots of questions if you don’t understand something. (Remember: There is no such thing as a dumb question. Your teachers are there to help you!)
  • Read at least 30 minutes a day in addition to what you read as part of your homework. It can be relaxing and fun.
  • Get involved in community service, school activities and take advantage of opportunities to explore something new.
  • Set goals for middle school, or revise your old goals.
  • Take the most challenging English, math (if possible, pre-algebra), science and social studies classes you can handle.
  • Add classes in art, computers or a world language.
  • Learn and master key concepts.
  • Get along with your parents.
  • Develop good study habits. Find out if you can schedule a study hall - you’ll complete your homework and have access to teachers who can help you if you get stuck.
